God created the heavens and the earth while humans were not yet present. The most important lesson of the biblical stories of the beginnings is a lesson on grace. We will be intrigued about the purpose of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and about its connection with the tree of life. We will ponder God’s act of creating humans in His image, and out of the dust too. As we study this week, we will understand better the profound meaning of the seventh-day Sabbath. The two Creation texts in Genesis 1-2 contain lessons about God and humanity. This truth also implies that the Genesis Creation story has the same historical veracity as other events of human and biblical history. This fact is very important because it means that our creation marks the beginning of human and biblical history. The book of Genesis and, hence, the whole Bible begins with God’s acts of Creation. Memory Text: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1, NKJV). Doukhan, DHL, ThD, is emeritus professor of Hebrew and Old Testament exegesis in the SDA Theological Seminary, Andrews University. As we follow the various characters across the pages of Genesis, we will discover that - regardless of how different the time, place, culture, and circumstance - often their stories are, in many ways, ours, as well. Meanwhile, the geographical movements of the book - from Eden to Babel, to the Promised Land, to Egypt, to the prospect of the Promised Land - remind us of our nomadic journeys and nurture our hope for the real Promised Land, the new heaven and the new earth. It is also an instruction book with lessons on ethics (Cain, Babel), on faith (Abraham, Jacob), and on the hope and promise of redemption (crushing of the serpent, Promised Land).ĭuring this quarter, we will not only read and study the book of Genesis - we will enjoy its beautiful stories and learn to walk better with the Lord of Creation, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But Genesis is also a book with moving human stories of love (Jacob and Rachel), of hatred (Jacob and Esau), of birth (Isaac, Jacob, Jacob’s sons), of death (Sarah, Rachel, Jacob, Joseph), of murder (Cain, Simeon, and Levi), and forgiveness (Esau and Jacob, Joseph and his brothers). With its dramatic stories of miracles (creation, births, rainbow) and judgments (the Flood, Sodom, and Gomorrah) witnessing to God’s holy presence, Genesis is awe-inspiring. Genesis, however, also comforts us with God’s promise of salvation in a world that, in and of itself, offers us nothing but suffering and death. Genesis also explains the Fall that is, why our world is no longer perfect and why we as humans aren’t, as well. Genesis, however, reveals to us our true origin, that we are beings purposely and perfectly made in the image of God in a perfect world. Or, as one physicist put it, we humans are “organized mud,” (which is to some degree true, though for him the laws of nature alone organized it!). Genesis is important because it is the book that, more than any other work, anywhere, helps us understand just who we are as human beings, a truth especially important now, in a day when we humans are deemed as nothing but accidents, chance creations of a purely materialistic universe. Because it is first, and so foundational to all that comes after, Genesis is probably the most quoted or referred to book in the rest of the Scriptures. Genesis gives us the foundation, the base, upon which all the following Scriptures rest. The English word Genesis is derived from the Greek genesis, which means “beginning,” itself derived from the Hebrew bere’shit, “in the beginning” - the first word of the book (hence, the first word of the entire Bible!). Here, in this book, is the world’s only “official” account of our origins. And the book of Genesis is the first story in Scripture of both this creation and the redemption of this creation. All creation - from galaxies hurling across the cosmos in staggering pinwheels of fire and light to the meticulous DNA woven miraculously into the cell to quantum waves - Jesus created and sustains it all. What did John write here? “In the beginning” all things that were made, all things that once didn’t exist, came into existence - by Jesus. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:1-4, NKJV). All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. Writing millennia after the Genesis text itself had been penned by Moses, and reaching back across those ages to the patriarch’s very words, the apostle John reveals Jesus in the Creation account: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Genesis is about Jesus: Jesus our Creator, Jesus our Sustainer, Jesus our Redeemer. Bible Study Guide - 2nd Quarter 2022 Genesis THE BOOK OF THE BEGINNING

Like the person who already upgraded to the iOS 17 beta, you've already made your choice. That means any fixes will get to you first as will features that won't ship until later iOS 17 updates like the new Journal app. Even better, they'll continue to arrive as betas before the general public downloads them. Here's some good news, assuming your experience with the new software has been as positive as my iOS 17 beta hands-on time: If you're running the iOS 17 beta, you've already upgraded.Īpple is going to keep sending updates your way, even after the full version of iOS 17 ships to the general public. I am already running the iOS 17 public beta Regardless of when the iOS 17 update arrives, here's a look at whether or not you should update to the initial release based on your personality type. Who should update to iOS 17 and who should wait If we had to guess, we'd circle the week of September 18, with the iOS 17 update likely becoming available in the early part of the week. That would place the release sometime between the end of the Apple event on September event and the likely iPhone 15 ship date on September 22. And since Apple likely doesn't want a bunch of iOS upgraders hitting its servers at the same time people are trying to set up their new iPhones, you'd expect the iOS 17 update to arrive just ahead of the iPhone 15 ship date. Based on Apple's usual time frame for releasing products after their launch event, we anticipate that the new phones will start shipping on September 22.īecause the iPhone 15 will ship with iOS 17 pre-installed, you'd imagine that the iOS 17 release would be timed to coincide with the arrival of the new phones. We expect the Apple September event to feature the debut of the iPhone 15 models, with Apple also announcing when those phones will go on sale. But Apple tipped its hand when it set a September 12 date for its next product launch. At 5¼ inches, it eliminates quite a bit of clearance between your stock and your drill bit. Using the LWIR band (stands for long-wave infrared region, between 8 and 14 microns), we can detect radiant heat emitted by land and water surfaces.Images taken in the Cirrus band reveal high-altitude clouds that are invisible in most other bands. The NIR band is ideal for monitoring plants and contrasting water bodies against the surrounding features. The Near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths are just beyond the visible red range, and are reflected off the leaves and canopy of healthy plants much stronger than in the blue, green, and red bands. Thus, combining a panchromatic with any other spectral band makes the final composite image “sharper,” highlighting more details. An image in Pan usually appears black & white and has a higher spatial resolution compared to most other bands. Red + Green + Blue, together, make up a Pan band (panchromatic, which stands for “all colors”).It is used in combination with other spectral bands to visualize what we cannot normally see. The Red, Green, Blue bands cover the range of 400 – 700 nanometers which corresponds to the visible spectrum.Coastal band was designed to highlight shallow water, measuring changes in ocean color, and detecting fine aerosol particles in the atmosphere.Let’s take a closer look at some of the most common satellite bands: On a graph, this would appear as a curve spiking in the Red, Green, and Blue spectral bands, and dropping abruptly as it enters the near-infrared band column. For example, water surfaces mostly reflect light in the visible spectrum and very little to none – in the NIR. It allows you to see how bright the reflectance of the same feature or object in different satellite bands is. Light reflectance measured across multiple spectral bands can be visualized on a graph as a so-called spectral response curve. This enables a more precise detection of changes in surface features. Modern radar sensors can produce comprehensive 3D models of the Earth, regardless of the cloud cover. Infrared and ultraviolet satellite bands can be used to measure chlorophyll in plants and tracking forest fires, among other applications. On the other hand, to assess the health of a plant, it is better to use the near-infrared range since healthy vegetation has a brighter reflectance in this spectrum. Thus, for example, in the middle-infrared range, the moisture content in vegetation, forest canopy, and soil is highlighted in an image. Combining images in visible range with different satellite bands helps us visualize otherwise undetectable features. Each spectral band corresponds to a specific range of wavelengths that convey specific information about a feature of interest. Satellite remote sensors can be tuned to detect light in wavelengths that are invisible to a naked eye. Today, thanks to a variety of GIS mapping apps, satellite imagery can be easily accessed online and used to monitor the state of crops, estimate the burned out areas, track the progress of hurricanes, as well as maintain civil defense, among other uses. whoever that isĪt the begging of your game you may find the right back position a little shaky. His backup David Ospina happens to be injured for around a month so make sure Szczesny doesn’t get injured early on or you might find yourself playing Matt Macey in goal. He's solid between the sticks and still has plenty of potential to fulfil, he's by no means the best keeper in the league but he's definitely up there. With Wojciech Szczesny in your team you have the Goalkeeper position locked down for 10+ years. As well as that you need pump ball into box as well as exploit the flanks to make this tactic work, other options to add are winger player instructions to aim crosses at target man and to float or whip crosses.įirst 11 Positional Analysis Goalkeepers: Team Instructions are very important here you need either direct passing or the more extreme version of "go route one" activated for the ball to be lobbed up to giroud in the first place. Once Giroud has received the ball primarily in the final third he can distribute to the inside forwards who could cut in and score or play a simple 1-2 with Giroud to give him a scoring opportunity. Your centre mids will look to blast the ball up the field to Giroud who will look to either flick the ball on to the wingers or if he's close enough to take a shot at goal. Quite a basic tactic but if worst comes to worst you can lob the ball from anywhere on the field up to your target man Olivier Giroud. If you want to utilise Olivier Giroud you could use this tactic Other options for this tactic are to make Ozil a shadow striker and Aaron Ramsey an advanced playmaker. These instructions utilise the teams passing ability and pace meaning that they can pass the ball accurately and have their pacey wingers latch on to them and collect them. The most important team instructions would have to be more direct passing, pass into space, work ball into box and attack the flanks. The back four is just a standard back line with two central defenders and full backs on support. The centre mids are there for defensive cover as well as passing options. Ozil in playmaker aims to put through those magical balls he's known to produce and can use his dribbling to get in behind the opposition. The wingers provide width and with arsenal they can use their blistering pace to get into the final third. The striker Danny Welbeck aims to be a typical lone striker playing a little bit deeper than usual as a complete forward, this allows him to link up with the rest for the team. This tactic best allows you to take advantage of all Arsenal's best players and is my favourite tactic in the game. For their expectation of 4th and above this is a big help and may even allow you to challenge for the title. The new stadium allows you to rake in around 3,000,000 pounds a game if you sell out the stadium, which is great news for any team! Arsenal have a massive budget of around 50 million pounds to spend (60 if you say you can win the tile) and 250,000 pound spare wage budget which allows to strengthen the team in every way possible. You'll find Arsene Wenger left the club in a very good financial state as the club recorded a 108 million pound profit last season, however, you do have 250 million pounds of debt to pay off by 2030. Will you be able to get Arsenal out of 4th place and again compete with the big boys of English football? Arsenal will not be too much of a challenge to win the title with, however you will need to beat some of the biggest clubs in football like Chelsea, City and Liverpool. With 13 league titles and 11 FA cups and 1 unbeaten season to their name Arsenal have earned themselves a place in English football history. Arsenal FC are one of the biggest names in world football and are drenched with history. In 2019, cruise missiles and drones successfully penetrated Saudi Arabia and struck the heart of its oil industry in Abqaiq. There also has been at least one attack that the Houthis claimed where suspicion later fell fully on Iran. arms embargo that has prohibited weapons transfers to the Houthis since 2014. Independent experts, Western nations and United Nations experts have traced components seized aboard other detained vessels back to Iran. Iran has long denied arming the Houthis even as it has been transferring rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, missiles and other weaponry to the Yemeni militia using sea routes. “The fact that there’s another front directly to the south raises the risk that Israel (air defenses) can be overwhelmed and then it can be that much more worrying” if Hezbollah, Hamas and others launch massive missile barrages. “It was just a matter of time before they would be able to do this,” Juneau said, noting the rebels’ steadily advancing missile program that came with Iranian assistance. The rebels’ slogan has long been: “God is the greatest death to America death to Israel curse the Jews victory to Islam.”īut “now they have the hard power to back it,” said Thomas Juneau, a professor at the University of Ottawa who has studied Yemen for years. The Houthis follow the Shiite Zaydi faith, a branch of Shiite Islam that is almost exclusively found in Yemen. troops also have been targeted in drone attacks on bases in Iraq and Syria claimed by Iranian-allied militia groups since the war started. Tehran has long sponsored both the Houthis and Hamas, as well as the Lebanese Shiite militia group Hezbollah, which continues to trade deadly cross-border fire with the Israelis. The Houthis’ declaration further drew Iran into the conflict. That’s even as Saudi Arabia has tried for months to reach a peace deal with the Houthis after a yearslong deadlock war against them. The kingdom saw four of its soldiers killed in its southern Jazan province in recent days in fighting with the Houthis, according to a report Tuesday by Bloomberg citing anonymous sources. Some challenges require a certain precision, though, which can be frustrating at times, given you don’t always feel like the physics is consistent or if random variables are affecting each launch that you can’t button up.Saudi Arabia also did not respond to questions. It all made me excited to see what others make, as the only limit feels like your imagination. The challenges are the key to your progression, unlocking more complexity and new parts for you to toy with until your software is so full of stuff you could get overwhelmed by the possibilities. Some purists may want more from their rocket sim, but I’m satisfied when I can send a teddy bear on top of a bicycle to low orbit based on clever planning. Each launch failure leads to new tweaks, changes in weight, different types of fuel, adjustments for aerodynamics, it’s all here, and it’s a blast. The conceit of Next Space Rebels is experimentation. Challenges can dry out, leaving you to fill in the blanks until you do whatever is needed to progress, sometimes at random. Use the wrong tags, and the amount of new subs you’ll get for a video is laughable, leaving new story bits and parts locked away until you’ve gained enough notoriety. The only stumble is mainly in that midsection of the story when you begin to grind for subscribers to get to your next account tier. It’s all great fun, and no matter how long the middle part of the game felt (and it did feel grindy at times), I just couldn’t stop making new rockets. You’ll begin with a tiny rocket kit and end up with jet engines and fuel that could launch a cargo truck into space. Over the course of the story, you’ll go from using markers and sketches to almost 3D-like rendering with real-time calculations available. You start simple with straightforward software to design your rockets. It’s a shit sandwich that Next Space Rebels revels in if a bit too long.Īs you build rockets, you increase your complexity score, which is a gamey way of letting you slowly build more and more complex rockets. Shouldn’t you have more rights when it’s you creating the content people want to see? Is it amoral that others exploit the tagging system to get more views instead of focusing on quality content?
